Light Fantastic!

Ok, for the Pinterest challenge this month, I decided to have a go at another doily inspired make on my pinterest board. I really love how this light looked in this tutorial, so decided to have a go.

I first of all bought some punch ball balloons from ebay and some doilies. I then covered the balloon in vaseline and soaked the doilies in wallpaper paste, before putting them on. I then hung them up to dry like this:

Actually I must confess..... I got a bit impatient and ....I don't know what I was thinking of...... tried to use a hairdryer to dry the doilies. Doh. What a surprise the balloon burst. Oh well, did one again and very pleased with the result.

They are now both on my landing casting lovely patterns. Even the other half likes them, so they must be good!

Pinterest Doily Inspired Sewing!

I had another go at the Pinterest challenge and had a go at making these storage bins which were inspired from here. I already had the linen and managed to get some doilies on ebay.

I love the contrast between the dark fabric and white doily so I made this door stop too.

Rabbits

I think I've finally got my sewing mojo back and in the process of making about 15 rabbits - which all in the middle of being made. Managed to finish off these two this morning though, to give to a friend who was having a christening for her twins. Now can't wait to finish off the rest!

Craftiness

I've had a bit of a crafty time this last week. I had a go inspired by the pinterest challenge to make this which was inspired by this. Not as good but not bad as a first go - got to get the hang of applique!

I also made this bunting for Valentine's Day out of old books. Sorry the picture is so terrible - the light is non-existent in my house at the mo.

Purse

I had a go at using one of those quick sew patterns for a purse. It uses bias binding with cord inside as shown in orange on my purse. It was really easy to make but has sat half finished until last week. I've made it for my niece who's 11 and I think this will be right up her street....

It's getting bigger....

Made this dress for my friend's little girl. Quite pleased with it and will be making some more for my nieces.

I'm getting there slowly with this quilt .... Now need to get my hands on some more scraps of fabric...
